Privacy Policy
Last updated — 13 June 2026
This policy explains how AUSTER handles your personal information. We have written it to be read, not skimmed past — it is short, plain, and honest about exactly what we collect and why. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
1. Who we are
AUSTER is a trading name of Overlord Group Holdings Pty Ltd (ABN 85 693 455 819), an Australian web-design studio. We are remote-first and serve clients Australia-wide. Our registered office is at Office 3981, Ground Floor, 470 St Kilda Road, Melbourne VIC 3004, Australia.
For anything in this policy, the fastest way to reach us is hello@auster.design.
2. What we collect
We collect only what we need to talk to you and do the work. In practice, that means:
- Enquiry-form details — your name, email address, business name, current website URL (if you have one), and the project brief you write to us.
- Email correspondence — anything you send us by email while we discuss, scope, or deliver your project, including Care Plan change requests.
- Basic technical data — standard server logs may record information such as your browser type, device, and IP address when you visit our site.
Our website itself sets no tracking cookies and runs no advertising trackers. We do not profile you, follow you around the internet, or build audiences from your visit.
3. Why we collect it
We use your personal information to:
- respond to your enquiry and discuss your project;
- scope, design, build, and deliver the work you engage us for;
- provide ongoing Care Plan support, including actioning your change requests;
- improve our services and the way we work;
- comply with our legal and tax obligations as an Australian business.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for unrelated marketing without your consent. If you write to us about a website, you will hear from us about your website — nothing else.
4. Third-party services and overseas disclosure
Like most studios, we rely on a small number of third-party services to run our site and deliver our work. Some of these are located outside Australia, which means limited personal information may be disclosed overseas (APP 8) for the technical purposes described below:
- Formspree, Inc. — processes submissions from our enquiry form. Formspree's servers are located in the United States, so the details you submit through the form are transmitted to and processed there.
- Google Fonts — delivers the typefaces on this site. When the fonts load in your browser, your IP address is visible to Google as part of that request.
- Hosting providers — host our website and may store server logs as part of normal operation.
These disclosures happen only for these limited technical purposes. We do not otherwise send your personal information overseas.
5. How we protect it
We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure, as required by APP 11. That said, no transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of information you send to us. If something sensitive should not travel by email, tell us and we will arrange another way.
6. How long we keep it
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as long as the law requires us to keep it (for example, business and tax records). After that, we delete it or de-identify it so it can no longer be linked to you.
7. Access and correction
Under APPs 12 and 13, you can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct anything that is inaccurate, out of date, or incomplete. Just email hello@auster.design with your request. We will respond within a reasonable time, and we will not charge you for making the request.
8. Complaints
If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us first at hello@auster.design. We take this seriously and will investigate and respond promptly.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC):
- Website — www.oaic.gov.au
- Phone — 1300 363 992
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time — for example, if our services or the services we rely on change. When we do, we will post the updated version on this page and revise the "Last updated" date at the top. The version published here is always the current one.
